There are simple recreations of a one room school, livery stable, hardware store, printing shop, sheriff's office, etc., even an outhouse (non-functioning of course! Although we are not big fans of these sort of things, this one is done as well as most and may be of interest particularly to kids. This is an interpretative reconstruction of typical streets and shops found in an early 1900s town. Unfortunately, they are in the process of reworking a couple of their exhibit spaces as well as their gift shop, but some sections are still open, so we toured these.Ī large portion of the museum is their "Streets of Old Shelby" exhibit. We stopped at this free museum for Shelby County on a weekday afternoon in late March.
